North Downs Golf Club
North Downs Golf Club is delighted to announce that its future has finally been secured following the acquisition by a subsidiary company of Safeland PLC. The transaction was formally completed on the 31st October 2018.
The sale of the Club has taken longer than the Club anticipated after an initial meeting with the membership back in February. At that meeting the members overwhelmingly voted to place the Club on the market in order to safeguard its future. The wish was also to seek investment in order to improve the facilities available to members and residents of the village and surrounding area.
The Club Chairman, Ray Bartram says he is “delighted that the Club has found a way to protect the club and maintain the golf course which has been a part of the village for nearly 120 years. We look forward to working with our new owners in the future and are very confident that not only will golf continue to be played at the Club but that in time the facilities will be extended to meet the many needs of the wider community”.
Errol Lipman, co-director of Safeland PLC addressed a meeting of the staff at the Club on the day of completion and stressed how pleased the Company is to have acquired its first golf club in such a lovely part of Surrey and is looking forward to working with the staff, members and the local residents to providing a first class facility.
